Explosions in Baghdad

Six people were killed and at least 22 people injured in a series of explosions in Baghdad on Sunday, officials said.

The first explosion was a sticky bomb attached to a minibus. It went off near the ministry of transportation in eastern Baghdad, killing three passengers and injuring 11 others, police said.

Three more bombs exploded at a commercial district in central Baghdad, killing one civilian and wounding three others, police said. The improvised explosive devices exploded within a few minutes in three different locations.

In another attack, two officers were killed and three others wounded when a roadside bomb hit an Iraqi police patrol in eastern Baghdad.

Three people were wounded in a roadside bomb explosion in western Baghdad’s Amriya neighborhood on Sunday. And in southern Baghdad, two Iraqi soldiers were wounded Sunday when a roadside bomb hit their patrol.

On Saturday night, four members of a local awakening council were shot dead in a drive-by shooting in Jurf al-Sakhar, south of Baghdad, according to police officials in Baghdad. The four were leaving a mosque after finishing evening prayers, police said. Three were dead at the scene and the fourth died in a local hospital
